Illustration Process

My studio is on the third floor of my Victorian home in East Aurora, NY. I write, read and draw my digital illustration in the front gable. But the central part of the studio is where I paint. All of my illustrations start digital. I redraw on tracing paper. I cut out stencils that I use to add texture. The painting begins in watercolor washes. Final painting is a combination of watercolor and gouache. Click image to see gallery.
